In a joint statement, the first since their breakup, the two stars explain they have reached an agreement so that the details of the divorce remain private, and it is therefore a private judge who will pronounce their divorce.
“Parties and their lawyers have signed agreements to safeguard the privacy rights of their children and the family, keeping all Court documents confidential, and engaging a private judge to make all legal decisions and facilitate The quick resolution of all remaining problems,” the statement read.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also say they are “committed to a common front to heal together.”
In November court documents revealed that the 41-year-old actress had obtained exclusive custody of the children, while Pitt would only be able to visit the kids in the presence of a psychologist.
It was alleged that Pit, 53 had been physically and verbally abusive to one of the children. The claim was later dismissed.
AdvertisementA judge validated this agreement last month, and the actor a few days later completed an emergency motion to seal all documents related to the divorce, so as not to hurt his children. The judge refused the motion on the grounds of urgency, so Brad Pitt filed a regular motion which was accepted by Angelina Jolie.
